The release of Mortal Kombat 12 this year will make 2023 an unstoppable year for combat games.
The declaration was made by Warner Bros. Discovery today during its earnings conference. Mortal Kombat 12 will be released in 2023, according to Andrew Slabin, senior vice president of global investor strategy at Warner Bros. Discovery, in a clip from the call that has been circulating on Twitter.
The highly anticipated Mortal Kombat 12 and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which are both scheduled for release this year with uncertain launch forecasts, are just two of the many games that are still to come, according to Slabin.
IGN has contacted Warner Bros. Discovery for a formal response.
Prior to today, we had no formal information about Mortal Kombat 12. The voice of Johnny Cage, Andrew Bowen, teased the sequel back in September by posting a film of himself on the Warner Bros. set. Additionally, Ed Boon, the creative director at NetherRealm, told IGN that the team was “working on another game,” though he was unable to specify what it was at the moment.
Fighting game enthusiasts will have a lot to look forward to between 2023 and 2024 because Mortal Kombat 12 will be released in the same year as Street Fighter 6 and possibly during the same time frame as Tekken 8.
We gave Mortal Kombat 11 from 2019 a 9/10 and said, “It’s a rare fighting game that hits just about every note as powerfully as Mortal Kombat 11 does.” We were big fans of the game.
