Musk Reveals Plan to Scale Tesla to ‘Extreme Size’

Elon Musk teased the publication of Tesla’s “Master Plan Part 3” on Twitter one day before the automaker’s first European production opened, indicating ambitions to grow Tesla to the “extreme.” Musk disclosed the topics that would dominate the next chapter of Tesla’s long-term strategy on Twitter on Monday: artificial intelligence and growing the automaker’s operations.

“The main Tesla themes will be scaling to extreme sizes, which is required to transition mankind away from fossil fuels, and AI,” Musk said in a tweet. “However, there will be portions on SpaceX, Tesla, and The Boring Company.” The proposal might define Tesla’s “extreme size,” as well as the automaker’s approach for growing its manufacturing and supply chain in the face of a worldwide pandemic and supply chain constraint.

Tesla is set to launch its first facility in Europe on Tuesday when it will hand over the company’s first production automobiles. In order to compete with Volkswagen, Europe’s largest manufacturer, and its $100 billion investment in electric vehicles, the $5 billion facilities in Berlin is expected to produce more than half a million electric vehicles yearly. Due to an increase in China’s Omicron cases and supply chain restrictions, Tesla shut down its round-the-clock Shanghai Gigafactory for two days last week. This facility manufactures around 2,000 automobiles per day and exports a large quantity of Model 3 and Model Y vehicles to Europe.

The “Master Plan’s” first two sections proved to be an accurate road map for the company’s product and technological development; the first part, a 2006 blog post titled “The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (only between you and me),” explained Tesla’s proof of concept. Musk’s Master Plan update, “Part Deux,” a decade later, included intentions to expand battery storage and introduce additional models, including a battery-electric pickup truck and SUV.

Now that the firm is reaching the conclusion of the second section, Musk has begun teasing the next chapter of Tesla on Twitter. This is also the first time the Master Plans will focus on individual Musk firms, fuelling rumors that he may be planning to form an umbrella corporation to house all of his businesses. The tweet’s mention of SpaceX and The Boring Company, on the other hand, might be a hint to future partnerships between the two businesses.
